André Carvalho
André Carvalho was born in Lisbon. He is a student at the University of Montford, currently attending the foundation year art & Desing. He plans to join the 2D animation course and become a cartoon animator.
He started drawing very early and had his first sketchbook at the age of three. He still guards it today. He drew on school notebooks, on napkins in cafes, on the sheets he found. He started by creating characters that were inspired by his own life experience and his family. He created cartoons for the scouts, for the church, and for the college he attended.
He always stood out with his cartoon characters, being invited on several occasions to make educational cartoons for the school he attended, also being the creator of some drawings of the school's annual themes.
His characters have their own characteristics that are easy to attribute to their authorship.
His influences are born from cartoons like Steven Universe and animators like Rebecca Sugar
This year he managed to develop his skills in different artistic areas, working with different materials and in different projects, such as Monochrome and color drawing, Sustainable Art, Fabric Construction, charcoal, ink pen, Diorama, Repeated Patterns, reverse drawing, clay, among others. Through his research work, he got to know many artists who influenced his work and helped him to grow in the world of the arts. The culmination of his work can be seen on this website with his animations that he built over the course of this year.
He has been training for animation so he can do his dreamwork for the future and other more projects.
